Getting started
- You do not need a talk-back mic or in-ear monitors. ClickCue is built for stages that have neither.
- Put every device on the same Wi-Fi network before you start.
- Build songs in the library with tempo, keys, coloured tags, notes and optional PDF charts, then group them into set lists.
- One person taps Music Director; a four-digit session code appears at the top of their screen.
- Everyone else taps Musician, chooses that director from the nearby list, and types the code.
- Tap Count In to start the band together. Headphones-only is on by default, so a dropped cable will not play click through the speaker.
Charts and sharing
- Attach a PDF chart to a song in the library. Detection is tuned for SongSelect layouts and can suggest title, tempo, key and time signature for you to review before applying.
- From Director or Musician, open the current song's chart or notes in one tap.
- Share songs or set lists as .clickcue files via AirDrop, Messages or Files. If charts are included, ClickCue asks you to confirm you have the right to share them.
Nobody can see the director
- Confirm all devices are on the same network, not a mix of Wi-Fi and personal hotspot.
- Some guest and corporate networks block device-to-device traffic. If yours does, use a small travel router or one device's hotspot.
- Make sure ClickCue was allowed local network access. You can re-enable it in Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network.
- Keep Wi-Fi turned on even when using a hotspot, and leave Airplane Mode off.
The code is rejected
Codes are four digits and are shown on the director's screen. If you mistype one, the keypad clears so you can try again straight away. If the director restarts the session, a new code is generated.
Click and headphones
- Turn on click and spoken cues on each device. They stay local and never go to monitors or front of house.
- Headphones only stays on by default. If a cable or Bluetooth pair drops mid-set, the phone speaker stays silent.
- Wired headphones stay tighter to the beat than Bluetooth.
- The first spoken cue should no longer drop the click. If it does, turn click off and on again, then send a cue once the click is running.
The director disconnected
- Musicians stay on the last beat and show Reconnecting with elapsed time and guidance, not a false count-in.
- Tap Cancel on the reconnect screen to return to the home screen if you need to leave the session.
- If the director comes back, they start a new session and share the new four-digit code.
- Musicians can leave and rejoin with that code; the rest of the band keeps playing.
A musician drifts or freezes
- ClickCue reconnects and re-syncs automatically after a lock screen, a phone call or a brief walk out of range.
- If a device stays out of step, have that musician leave and rejoin; the rest of the band keeps playing.
- Enable Guided Access or turn off Auto-Lock on stage devices to stop the screen dimming mid-song.
